The story is in many outlets, but according to the Fox News retelling of the tale, congregants at a traditional Anglican service at Cambridge University in the UK cried real tears (presumably of joy at how trans Jesus was), after a sermon likened Jesus’ side wound to a vagina. Joshua Heath, a junior fellow at Cambridge, also urged congregants to appreciate that Jesus’ blending of feminine and masculine traits in traditional depictions suggested the faithful should practice acceptance, rather than fear and hatred, towards trans people and trans bodies.
Fox quoted at length from one Anglican who repeatedly expressed contempt at the religious teachings he heard from the pulput of his own faith:
Why the feelings of a single parishoner at a church in the UK are newsworthy to the US’ Fox News is a question that sadly cannot be answered at this time. Surely, though, we can all agree that here in America transgender Jesus is an exciting new way of looking at a musty old lord and saviour who, for far too long, has been assumed to be cis by boring cisgender religious leaders whose cis bias has made them miss the obvious; that Jesus Christ was completely trans.
