Have you ever considered filing a lawsuit over the potential genital configuration of an underage girl participating in a high school volleyball match over a year ago?
No?
Congratulations! You’re normal! You’re not the most awful person you know!
Unfortunately, Sean Lechner is the most awful guy he knows. He probably stinks very badly, I would assume due to a lack of good hygiene, and also has a bad haircut. It’s safe to assume, as well, that he dresses funny and can’t wink. Truly a miserable oaf of a man!
That is, of course, simply my opinion on the matter. I’m afraid I have no proof to substantiate these claims. I just have a non-actionable gut feeling!
Last Friday, being a miserable oaf, Lechner filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan against the Southeast Michigan school district, its superintendent Andrew Shaw, and its athletic director Chet Hesson. Lechner claims that his teen daughter’s school, Monroe, hosted Ann Arbor Skyline High School for a volleyball game on September 9, 2025, and that Monroe school officials had actual knowledge ahead of the game that “a biological male” (meaningless dog whistle, please shut up you loser) was playing on the opposing team… and thus sharing a locker room with his daughter.
When Lechner reached out to Chet Hesson via email, he claims to have received a response that neither confirmed nor denied the existence of a trans girl on the opposing team. As a result, on December 5, Lechner filed formal complaints to Monroe Public Schools Board of Education, the Michigan High School Athletic Association, the U.S. Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Education.
It should be noted, in all of this nonsense, that MHSAA, responsible for governing athletic competitions at 1,500 public and private schools across Michigan, is private and not-for-profit, and receives exactly zero dollars in funding from the federal government. MHSAA’s policy with regards to trans athletes participating in sports involves a special waiver that must be filled out and approved, which state Republicans do not like, and they have confirmed to CBS News Detroit that one waiver was approved for the 2025-2026 fall sports season.
As a result of Lechner’s busybody bullshit, three Michigan school districts were placed under investigation by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights in June of this year. Back in April, however, an independent investigation found no evidence of Title IX violations at Monroe, and the school system decided to stop having competing teams share locker rooms at their schools.
What’s more, on October 13, just yesterday, the Monroe Public Schools’ board voted 4-2 to ban transgender girls from playing on its sports teams… which isn’t even part of the allegations being made! The supposed trans girl was from a different team!
We’ll have to wait to see what the Education Department turns up in their completely unbiased, super normal investigations, but in the meantime Sean Lechner has decided to file a lawsuit about the whole situation. Represented by the religious conservative Thomas More Law Center, Lechner and his lawyers claim that the participation of a trans girl in school sports is a Title IX violation, which is kinda true… sorta… for now.
He is seeking unspecified compensation for damages like emotional distress, humiliation, and embarrassment, all because his daughter maybe had to share a locker room with a transgender girl. I should point out, this remains an unverified claim, and besides that, there is no real allegation of wrongdoing or harm. At worst, Monroe lost their game against Ann Arbor, and I find it hard to believe that a single member of the opposing team made that happen… especially when nobody can prove a trans girl was involved at all.
There is no evidence that trans girls are stronger than cis girls, or a danger to them in any way. This is a lie that is repeated again and again and again, without any substantiation. Not only can they not prove it scientifically, they can’t even point to real world examples of it happening!
Lechner’s daughter was not traumatized. She experienced no untoward behavior from a competitor. If those things were true, stronger allegations would be made on her behalf. She simply played, and lost, a game of volleyball… and as far as I’m concerned, that’s not really a strong enough foundation for a lawsuit.
