LGB Alliance Conference Disrupted by Crickids
Activist organization Trans Kids Deserve Better have topped their previous sit-in by disrupting an anti-trans activist conference with… six thousand crickets!

Turns out the trans kids are alright.
If you haven’t heard about The Cricketing yet, let me share something truly fantastic with you: Last Friday, seven members of a group known as Trans Kids Deserve Better infiltrated an anti-trans activist conference hosted by LGB Alliance carrying six thousand crickets on their persons. They released these crickets into the venue during a speech, forcing the anti-trans activists to end that speech and cancel the rest of the speeches they had scheduled for that day.
Though some of the “crickids” were briefly held by security, according to a press release the organization released itself, “all trans youth apprehended by attendees have been released and returned safely home.”
If you haven’t heard of the LGB Alliance, allow me to make your day measurably worse. Formed in late 2019 by Bev Jackson, Kate Harris, Allison Bailey, Malcolm Clark and Ann Sinnott, the organization claims to support lesbians, bisexuals and gay men against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender, but in reality devotes most of its energy and resources to harming trans people. They received charitable status in April of 2021, because I suppose the UK government must operate at maximum incompetency at all times, despite a huge outpouring of people insisting that they should be denied.
Since their founding, LGB Alliance has done a whole lot of ridiculous crap, like turning Kathleen Stock into a martyr for being fired from the University of Sussex over her transphobia beliefs (except she actually resigned her position voluntarily), launching a very dramatic and hilariously doomed lawsuit against LGBTQ+ charity organization Stonewall, and posing very pathetically with a cardboard standee of JK Rowling during their first annual conference.
They actually got Rowling to attend this year, by the way! Well, sort of… she sent in what I assume is a pre-recorded message to the conference goers from her personal yacht. Which cost $150 million, and is currently docked in Türkiye. The yacht boasts “a 5-meter circular swimming pool, a state-of-the-art cinema, and a private beach club,” and is staffed by a crew of 26 with room for up to 12 guests, and she still can’t stop obsessing about trans people.
Unbelievable!
You may recall we’ve written about Trans Kids Deserve Better before. Back in late August, members of the organization held a sit-in protest at the UK’s Department for Education headquarters, and at one point daringly scaled the face of the building to recover a banner before somebody could steal it from them.
It goes without saying that we support Trans Kids Deserve Better in their efforts to advocate for themselves and everybody like them, youth whose voices have been stolen by cisgender adults who want to use them as pawns in a political game. Though transphobia and transphobic state action is increasing all over the world, the UK is currently in dire straits as bans keep trans kids from accessing the medicine they need. Other outlets with their own agendas will attempt to portray these sorts of nonviolent, thoughtfully disruptive acts of protest as heinous or disturbing, but we know the truth: If nothing is done to check the rising tide of transphobia fostered by groups like LGB Alliance, trans people everywhere will suffer for it.
If you want to support Trans Kids Deserve Better, check out their upcoming week of statements from the crickids, and take a look at their website for fundraiser links and other ways to contribute to their work!
