Is it Charity to Remove Others’ Rights?

Is it Christian?

the salvation army is one of many Christian charities that are not blocked by Amazon

The haters have thankfully gone a bit quiet over the holidays, no doubt enjoying family gatherings where LGBTQ+ relatives aren’t welcome to bring their partners or come as their whole selves, but a couple right wing sites found time to cover the fact that Amazon Smile, a program allowing customers to have a small percentage of the money spent on their purchases go to their favorite charities, does not allow some prominant conservative political advocacy groups to participate as charities.

The non-invited groups include Alliance Defending Freedom, a group that funds court cases attempting to ban trans people from children’s sports teams and roll back the right to marry a member of any gender.

The articles make no distinction between Christian political organizing against marriage equality and trans rights and Christian charities, such as a soup kitchen in a Church basement, instead insisting that Amazon is targeting “Christian” groups. At least one (which was reprinted in several smaller outlets) also took cheap shots at Black Lives Matter, falsely claiming that BLM condones violence.
