Armed Antifa Members Guard Texas Storytime

Based on previous writing in the Christian Post one might expect them to be in favor of armed guards protecting people from violence, but this time it’s about protecting the lives of queer people.

The Christian Post, an evangelical news and opinion website, has coverage of a Texas story time where Antifa members provided armed protection from far right violence after similar events have been menaced by armed facists.

The Christian Post article seems very negative towards this event, and towards the idea of guarding the safety of participants. The article does not mention the background context of facist violence targeting similar events which has led to the organization of armed defenses in venues such as this one, but does include passages such as this one:

I thought it would be interesting to find out more about how the Christian Post has treated armed guards and second amendment issues more broadly. It turns out they’re largely in favor of the second amendment right to bear arms. Oh, and at least one writer has come down explicitly in favor of using armed guards to protect churches from violent gunmen!

It would surely be excessive to say that the Christian Post wants children at transgender story time events to be massacred by gun toting far right extremists. I’m sure they simply haven’t thought about the dangers the far right poses to such children, and do not care one way or the other.
