Uncompromising Transphobe David French Hired by NYT Opinion
This conservative Christian writer has said that simply leaving trans people alone or allowing them to access healthcare like anyone else is unacceptable and violates his Christian faith.

Evangelical Christian writer David French is now a staff writer for the New York Times Opinon section. While the Times Opinion section has featured multiple transphobic essays by staff member Pamela Paul, it does not include a single trans writer. With French, the committment to transphobic deepens, as in his own words French’s extreme views do not allow for any compromise on transgender rights. He supports the elimination of transgender people (or for “transgenderism” to “go away”), which was made clear in 2018 when he wrote about it for the National Review.
French has long been the favorite conservative of many liberals because of his rejection of Trumpism. His promotion of himself as a principled conservative has opened many doors in a mainstream liberal culture that wants and needs principled conservatives to exist. To many members of this liberal consensus French’s extreme anti-trans policy preferences as seen above may not be well known, as they are rarely found in the viral anti-Trump essays which likely made him so appealing to the Times. However his transphobia is a good fit for a Times Opinion section which seems committed to providing only one side of the “debate” over trans existence, namely the side which believes there are too many trans people and seeks to drive us out of public life.
