Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has made a TV ad featuring cisgender swimmer Riley Gaines, formerly of the University of Kentucky. Gaines has spoken about her opposition to allowing transgender women to swim in women’s matches.

Gaines tied for fifth place in a race where Thomas came first.
