The New York Post, a conservative tabloid that often publishes stories making the trans community seem absurd or extreme, has done further reporting on the story of Kayla Lemieux, a shop teacher in Canada whose gender presentation strikes mose people as absurd.

The Post claims to have photographed Lemiueux outside of work dresseed in casual clothing without her wig, makeup, or Z cup breast forms. They also spoke with a neighbor of Lemieux’s, who they allowed to remain anonymous, who said that Lemieux often presents in a masculine manner when out and about. The suggestion, which seems credible although difficult to prove, is that Lemieux is not genuinely trans, and her choice of presentation at school has some other motive, unrelated to gender identity, underlying it.

The tabloid followed up that story with another where they spoke with Lemieux on the record. In the interview Lemieux insisted that the Post’s photographs were of another person, not of her, though she declined to explain who the other person was. She also claimed that she does not wear prosthetic breasts at all, instead blaming a rare medical condition which resulted in her breasts growing to an unusual size when she began hormone therapy a few years ago.

The Post also reported that the school where Lemiuex works has continued to recieve threats. The threats take place in an atmosphere of relentless demonisation of trans people in the right wing press, with a frequent theme being that all trans people are outlandish, dangerous, and their identities are fake.

UPDATE: The New York Post reported that Lemieux was placed on administrative leave by the school on Tuesday Fenruary 28th.
