Heritage Foundation Attacks “Woke” Fox News
The “news” site for a conservative pressure group quotes a former Tucker Carlson staffer as saying Fox’s inclusive policies, which are mandated by New York law, cast doubt on the network’s conservatism.

According to writer Mary Margaret Olohan writing for the Heritage Foundation’s fake-news outlet, Fox News is dangerously woke now. Billed as an exclusive, the policy (which Olohan eventually admits Fox is legally required to have) is said to allow transgender staff members to dress according to their gender identity, mandates respectful use of pronouns for trans staffers, and allows trans staff to use the appropriate bathrooms for their gender.

The article does not say whether Fox employs any transgender people. It eventually mentions the fact that this nondiscrimination policy is legally mandated in New York state, where Fox is headquarted, but only after describing the circumstances of Tucker Carlson’s firing, quoting two anonymous current and former Fox staffers in saying the company isn’t as conservative begind the scenes as the staffers feel it ought to be, describes a couple stories in the past few years which weren’t entirely negative about transgender people, and mentioning that the company got a perfect score on Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. (Side note: Great job, Human Rights Campaign! No Notes. You are definitely doing great with all your activism on behalf of queer communities.)
The spectacle of the Heritage Foundation’s propagandists going after Fox News, seemingly on behalf of or in connection to the firing of White nationalist personality Tucker Carlson is equal parts hilarious and alarming. The far right is all in on eradicating trans people from public life, and will use the merest pretext that an organization isn’t 100 percent toxic to trans people as a vector of attack against them. Will Fox News go the way of Bud Light? Crazier things have happened, most of them recently.
